Yellow Lentils

Yellow lentil is a member of leguminosae family. Most of lentils are farmed in Europe, Asia and North Africa. First evidence of lentils are found in a remainder of lake dwelling in Switzerland. Its branches are dense and their lengths are between 15 and 45 cantimeters and its leaves are meshed. Its leaves are 15 milimeters and they consists of six flakes which is thorny of its peak. It has blue flowers which open in june and july and consist of 2 or 4 heaps.

It has two seeds which are between 15 and 20 milimeters tall, 4 - 6 cantimeters diameter. Color of seeds change between yellow, green, dark brown and orange.

Turkey has an important place in world´s lentil production. It produces in South East Anatolian District, Mardin, Şanlıurfa, Gaziantep and Batman.
